Shaker Grays
These distinctive prints would make excellent period costumes - blouses, skirts, & dresses. Shaker Grays were popular at the end of the 19th century until the pastels of the Depression Era. Also frequently called 'half mournings' for their popularity with widows who had completed their first year of deep mourning in black and were now wearing these prints for a 'half mourning'.
The name "gray"is a misnomer -- these small tight prints are typically half black and half white that view as gray.
